Custom Coffee Table for the homestead!
What fun build we have going on!
As you follow us here at T & T you know we are in constant remodel mode. This my friends is the reality of home construction. Chaos, dust, tools everywhere but I estimate we have finished probably about 75% of our “older bi-level home”. So no surprise, we are currently working on our living room to get ready for the holidays.
This piece is one that Merideth has wanted in our living room for a while. Our very own custom Farmhouse style coffee table. made with a variety of woods and sizes we wanted the sides to match our island X base we installed earlier this year
I finished the bottom with straight pine planks. The top was put together in an opposing arrow fashion. I used Pine, Alder, and Hickory boards glued and air nailed from underneath. the edges were finished off with planed pine wood.
We wanted to keep the same color stain as our kitchen island but with a bit more character on top and shelf. White was too much, gray was boring! I ended up staining, then applying a wash of Dixie Belle chalk paint in sawmill gravy, grey and then dark wax here and there. It’s a lovely muted mix of tones on top that will hide dust and imperfections. We don’t feel guilty putting our feet on it either!!
It is a perfect piece for our home and compliments or new fireplace build (post to come soon!). The Furbabies really enjoy the space between them!
